My First Stitch Fix

I heard about Stitch Fix from a friend a few months ago. I signed up right away, set up a profile, but never ordered my fix. Knowing the box would be pretty pricey, I held off until I could afford the pieces. I finally took the plunge last week and my Fix arrived today!

I ripped the box open as soon as I got home and tried everything on. Most of the pieces were great and I loved the personalized note that explained the pieces.

Only, I'm not quite sure how to match a pencil skirt with denim jeans, huh? I'm guessing that was supposed to say denim shirt. Poor gal only has 15 minutes to pick out the pieces that will go in my box and write the note, so I shouldn't complain about a typo.

Christiana Jacquard Printed Pencil Skirt $78

I love this skirt. It's stretchy and not too tight. It's got a great pattern that can go with a solid top. I need to buy myself a jewel-tone tank in the same style I'm wearing hear. Throw on a pair of heels and a black blazer when the temperature starts to come down and I'm set. At $78 retail, it's more than I would usually spend on a pencil skirt, but it looks like it will wear for a while.

Verdict: Keep

Collective Concepts Wells Dress $78

Okay, so not a huge fan of this one. The top half made me feel like a pilgrim (note the puffy sleeve caps, the long sleeves and the high-neck closure. I felt like it was really plain color-wise. I would have liked to have this in a nice pattern. It will definitely need some dressing up with heels (maybe a strappy sandel and definitely a long, bright necklace.

Verdict: Keep, reluctantly to get the 25% discount on the whole fix.

Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse $48

This is not usually a color I would grab off the rack, but it works. The sleeves are a bit tight when rolled, but it's a nice, airy shirt that can be dressed up or down. Now if I could just find some white capris, I'd be set.

Verdict: Keep

Tarcil Mesh Detail Blouse $48 and Zella Metal Collar Necklace $28

I loved this top from the second I pulled it out of the box. I have an almost identical one in my closet! I guess my stylist got my style pretty well from the questionnaire. I've also been needing a statement necklace, and this one was perfect. Not too much, but still a nice touch,

Verdict: Keep

Overall, I liked my first Fix. Everything fit well and was generally in colors I would choose. I'd love to see more patterns in future fixes, so I'm off to update my profile.

C9 Sports Bras - Target

Influenster invited me to participate in a Virtual #VoxBox for C9 Sports Bras from Target. I love Target and working out, so a 40% off coupon to try and then review the redesigned C9 Sports Bras was a no brainer. Plus, my bras are looking a little sad, so I grabbed my smartphone and headed to Target to test out some bras.

They have a huge selection of styles and colors for a really great price. I tried on a few and ended up with this one. Pardon the sweat, but this was post HIIT workout.

My overall impression of the bra was good. It stayed in place, provided plenty of support and looked super cute!

The two things that bugged me though were the skinny straps that dug into my shoulder a bit and the sizing. The skinny strap thing is an easy fix. There are plenty of strap options in the new styles, so I'll choose a thicker strap next time. The sizing runs small, so make sure to either try them on first or grab a larger size than you think you'll need.

The prices are comparable to other sports bras and Target constantly has sales. They cost between $16.99 and $22.99 - C9 Sports Bras @Target

Loreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Curls Hair System

I recently got a Vox Box from Influenster that came with a full sized sample of Loreal's new Extraordinary Oil Curls Shampoo, Conditioner and Mask. Getting free stuff to test out, awesome!

Try it out I did and the results were fairly good. The bottle boasted that you would see an extraordinary difference after the first use, but that wasn't my experience.

I have fine, curly hair that I often blow out, but it's by no means damaged and dry, so I was a bit afraid that all the oils in the product would weigh my hair down and make it greasy...but that wasn't the case. I shampooed, conditioned and used the mask as directed, then let it air dry without any other products and ended up with decently shaped curls that looked a bit drier than normal.

Here's the after picture. It doesn't look terrible, but it's definitely not fantastic.

After first use

I tried it a second time a few days later, skipped the mask and added my usual Redken styling products, then blow dried and came out like this.

After second use and styling products

Obviously, the lighting was different, but you can tell that the curls weren't as dry and actually held their shape better.

Overall, the product smelled really good and lathered nicely. The conditioner was thick and felt like it would do the job. A couple of reviewers complained about the product making their hair greasy, but like I said, that was not the case for me.

You can buy the shampooconditioner and mask on Amazon for about $16 total. Not a bad deal, but be sure to buy them separately, not the set the advertise, which they charge almost double for. You can also get the products at Target for about the same price.
